Saint of the Day (SotD)
This version brings the Saint of the Day (US Catholic version) to your website, via a simple shortcode.
SotD comes with a simple “toggle” show the Liturgical color of the day, as defined by the USCCB. Default is “Yes, show it”.
IF you’re using the Liturgical Day of the Week plugin, the Timezone Offset feature is already set (it uses the same exact “toggle”), which allows for a quicker “set it and go” configuration.
PLANNED: Incorporating Saints for other denominations (US and world-wide). Version 1.0.1 is specific for the Roman Catholic Churches of the United States.

Features:
- Shortcode builder allows you to decide if you want to show the background color (and it’s “partner” text color) or not.
- Works anywhere you can use shortcode.
- Only background color and text color defined via CSS. You can control the look/feel by adding your own CSS styling to a specific CSS class.
This plugin is not compatible with WordPress versions less than 5.0. Requires PHP 5.6+.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
- Check the FAQs/Help located on WordPress’ Plugin page, or the Support forum on WordPress.org’s plugin area.
- The Shortcode Builder has been extensively tested with both jQuery version 1.12.4 and 3.5.1, without any issues. The output, however, does not need jQuery/JavaScript.

Installation
If you downloaded this plugin:
- Upload the
saint-of-the-dayfolder to the/wp-content/plugins/directory - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
- Once activated, locate the “BD Plugins” section in WP Admin, and then click on “Saint of the Day”.
- Follow the directions on the main tab, etc.
If you install this plugin through WordPress 2.8+ plugin search interface:
- Click “Install” on ‘Saint of the Day”.
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu.
- Once activated, locate the “BD Plugins” section in WP Admin, and then click on “Saint of the Day”.
- Follow the directions on the main tab, etc.
FAQ

Help! The background color is somewhat transparent!

This is more than likely a result of how CSS behaves, when the “opacity” setting is used. Any elements (including nested elements) contained within that one element will have a semi-transparent/opaque background. The fix for this is to remove any “opacity” CSS calls and to replace them with a “background: rgba()” call. See the “Known Issues / Troubleshooting” section on THIS PAGE for more information.

SotD is a bit of a unique plugin, because if you have the Liturgical Day of the Week (LDotW) plugin also installed (and activated), LDotW can “tap” into the SotD data to bring today’s Saint into the LDotW plugin output. Head over to the LDotW WP Admin interface for more details.
