FAQ

Template, placeholder and post detail

Here You can control the Post Detail parts, which appears as part of the post item. All post detail will placed as placeholder. The text in the Template area can be a post details placeholder, plain text, HTML or HTML for SVG icons.

How it works? and examples.

For more layout options please try our premium widget: Term and Category based Posts Widget.

Use SVG icons

For SVG font-icon HTML we recommend the WordPress Dashicons, which are included as default and can be used without any font-icon including.

How to use Page Bilder plugins like Divi, SiteOrigin Page Builder or Elementor

Please read more about Page Builder plugins at our FAQs

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/www/blog/wp-content/plugins/category-posts/cat-posts.php on line 58

Some of the features that were used in that version needs PHP 5.3+.
We apologies for any headache this may cause you, but frankly it is better for you to check with your hosting company how can you upgrade the PHP version that you are using, and not only in order to use this plugin. PHP 5.2 should be considered insecure now, and for your own sake you should upgrade.
PHP 5.2 is very old and any support for it from the php developers had ended more then 5 years ago php.net/eol.php.
We know there are peopel how use PHP 5.2 wordpress.org/about/stats and we can’t imagine this people will have no other problems, if they don’t update.

You check the PHP version with phpversion(), but the widget don’t work

Check also the .htaccess file, if there is an entry for an older PHP version.

Excerpt length in lines don’t work with FireFox and IE

We use for Excerpt length in lines a CSS feature called “line-clamp” which isn’t supported in FireFox and IE at the moment.
But since it is supported by all other browsers, we think it will be supported in FireFox and IE soon.
The FireFox browser has a coverage of 5%, which we find little. For this 5%, we have included a polyfill in our Excerpt Extension add-on.

Support helped me out on a problem with social sharing. At first it seemed that it was caused by category posts widget. But after some testing it was something else. The support helped me in pointing out the probable cause what had nothing to do with the category posts widget plugin. It was an entirely diffrent issue. So they helped me solve the issue even when it was not their plugin causing this. So Awesome support.

I had a very negative experience with this company. The free version of this plugin worked fine on my site but after upgrading to the paid version it broke my website, adding random nonsense and links to my header and destroying the navigation menu. So I downgraded back to the free version and just wrote my own CSS code (the style options are really the only difference between the free and paid versions). After contacting support, explaining the situation, providing them with screenshots, and wasting a bunch of time answering pointless questions, I was told they could not issue me a refund because their payment system "does not allow refunds." Um...what? I have purchased hundreds of WordPress plugins over the years and have had to return dozens of them and I have NEVER been denied a refund. It is basic etiquette not to charge people for products that don't work for them! Very disappointed in this company and I will not be purchasing anything from them ever again. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They will take it and run. Stick with the free version or just use a different plugin...

Very helpful and useful plugin which works perfectly. Had a couple of project related topics and the support was responding fast and solved the task with individual amendments! Tausend Dank Daniel!
